Wilkinson County is located in the central part of the state, north of Interstate 16 and south of Interstate 20 and just east of Interstate 75, along Georgia’s Fall Line Freeway. The County is approximately 100 miles southeast of Atlanta and 35miles east of Macon.
Wilkinson County is the hub of several major highways including the newly four-lane U.S. Highway 441, GA Highway 112, and GA Highways 57, 18, and 243. The new Fall Line Freeway intersects US Highway 441 in the northern portion of the county as part of the connection between Augusta and Columbus. Norfolk Southern and Central Georgia Rail provide rail service to the County.
From Macon:
Interstate 16 East toward Savannah, take Exit 2 Coliseum Drive, turn left. Pass under interstate and go to Emery Highway (Hwy 129/23/80). Turn right and continue past Ocmulgee National Monument and take a slight left on state Route19and US Highway 80. US Highway80 merges with state Route57. Continue forapproximately 20 miles to Irwinton and cross US Highway 441. Continue for less than one mile then turn right at the traffic light onto Old US 441/Bacon Street. From Milledgeville:
Irwinton is located approximately 20 miles south of Milledgeville. Travel US Highway 441 South to the intersection of state Route 57 in Irwinton. Turn left and proceedless than one mile.
